Each year the Sunshine League puts together a wish list for both the children staying in our Home as well as a wish list for the “house”. We rely on generous individual and corporate donors choose from the list the items they will purchase.
Well, we sit the children down and ask “If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?” Their immediate answer is always “to go home.” Unfortunately, we are not directly responsible for reuniting the children with their families, although we do our part. The second question we ask is, “if someone were to purchase you anything you want, what would you ask for?” And so the children's Wish Lists are born.
The Wish List is intended to bring a small piece of joy into our children’s lives during the Christmas holiday. We recognize that the relationships they have with their families are the more important than any material possession, but as Christmas is always a particularly difficult time for our children, we try to help them spend the holiday as a kid, rather than as a foster child.
Please contact our office 10 am - 3pm for details and check in with us before making any purchases to ensure that there aren't duplicated gifts.
